The PS2 and Xbox versions were released in North America in a two in one bundle with the following game in the series, The King of Fighters 2003.

Castrol Honda Superbike, as the name implies, is a racing game that exclusively features real Honda RC45 racing bikes that you can race on 14 real tracks from around the world. The game has several different settings that let you customize your bike. Most notable are the different sprocket settings that let you change your bike’s gear-ratio settings. Each gear can be adjusted so that you can tailor and maximize your motorcycle’s performance for each track.
The control of the bikes is actually quite good, especially when using the Dual Shock controller – one stick steers the bike while the other adjusts your speed. The bike reacts as it would in real life, which means that when you’re going around a tight turn you must take it at a reasonable speed so your bike doesn’t go slamming into a wall. If this is a problem for you, the game does offer six different difficulty settings, some of which have options that help steer your bike for you while you turn, as well as reduce your bike’s speed so that you can make the turn. The AI of the track’s seven computer-controlled bikers isn’t anything special. The bikers just race along the course in a standard staggered style so that at just about any point in the race you have someone to directly compete against. If you do decide to race this other player, the game features a two player head to head split screen mode.

Need for Speed 4 High Stakes It plays very much like Need for Speed 4, but with some extra play modes and one big added feature. I reviewed Need for Speed 4 more than a few months ago and loved the game. It had a few shortcomings, but they were minor and insignificant compared with the outstanding gameplay and graphics. When I first played Need for Speed 4, I thought it was vastly superior to Need for Speed II. Now that I’ve played the next Need for Speed game, High Stakes, I have to ask myself: Does it surpass the third installment as easily as the third surpassed the second? Not exactly. That doesn’t mean the game is bad or even worse than Need for Speed 4. It just isn’t a huge leap in terms of graphics and gameplay.
Those who buy this game should realize that it plays very much like Need for Speed 4, but with some extra play modes and one big added feature.
The biggest feature added to the game is car damage, which we’ve all been crying for since the inception of this fine arcade racing series. I’m happy to say that on this count, the game benefits greatly from damage modeling. All cars have ratings for body, engine, suspension, and handling. Too many bumps, scrapes, and crashes will bring those ratings down. At first, the damage is subtle, but once you start racking up the collisions, you’ll see the car’s body start to warp, the windshield and windows break, and the engine start to smoke. Tires will be off kilter, and you’ll notice the performance of your car suffering commensurately. There is no way to fix your car during a race, so you are in a bind should the damage be extensive. There is a status window on the top right corner of your screen, though, so you can monitor your damage and respond accordingly. You might want to be less reckless if you see the red damage-indicator bar overtaking the blue status bar. For Need for Speed purists who don’t want to play with damage, this option can be toggled off.

Need for Speed Underground contains a decent-sized car roster. Right off the bat you’ll find a Honda Civic, which is one of the more popular rides in the scene. But the inventory doesn’t stop there. You’ll also find a VW Golf, Acura Integra, Toyota Supra, S2000, Ford Focus, Dodge Neon, Mazda Miata, and a few more. Though the different cars are rated in handling, acceleration, and top speed, in practice the cars don’t drive all that differently, especially once you’ve purchased some upgrades in the career mode.

An expansive free roam map lets you drive around the city causing destruction and mayhem at will, but watch out because the police will soon be on your tail. Driver is reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto in the early years but focuses on the driving aspect only.
Several Thuggish Game Modes
Driver offers several ways to experience the game such as missions, free play, or undercover (the story mode). In mission mode you are allowed to select from a variety of missions including pursuit, getaway, and destruction. In destruction mode your goal is to cause as much damage to the surroundings as you can in the allowed time. Missions are received on your answering machine in story mode and can be accepted or saved for later.
If you just want to drive around causing havoc then free play is the choice for you. Free play allows you to pick a city and just roam the streets at will without timers or missions. In all modes your car does have a limit to how much damage it can take before you must start over so keep that in mind when you’re deciding whether or not to ram the car in front of you.
It’s a Challenge Outrunning the Cops
The large size and variety of maps mean there will be plenty of exploring for you to do in free play. Running from the police can be a game in itself. Using high speed maneuvers in an effort to “lose your tail” is one of the most challenging aspects of this game. In addition to practicing your getaway skills, you can also become better acquainted with the map. Knowing the map can make missions easier during the story mode.
Lack of Instructions are a Bummer
Driver does have a few drawbacks. The game doesn’t make this clear, but the first screen you come to is the main menu and has the options tab to make any adjustments to controls, sound, video and so on.
At first the game can be frustratingly difficult if you are unfamiliar with the terms used (slalom, speed, brake check) . You are given a list of actions to perform with your car before you can continue and a one minute timer in which to complete them. No other instructions are given so the player is left to their own devices to figure out what to do. Once you have completed the assigned tasks in your one minute timer you can be assured that you are now a professional driver worthy of any of the game’s challenges.
Conclusion – Story and Freeplay are Where It’s At
Driver offers an experience full of high speed chases, precision driving techniques and lots of destruction. Storyline missions and free roam play make a winning combination. So as long as you stick to a combination of storyline and free play this game will provide nearly unlimited entertainment.

Little things, such as pumping your hydraulics and bouncing down the avenue, make the experience even more fun. Racing is arcade style (it’s awfully hard to destroy your car) and easy to learn, yet power drifting is an acquired skill that keeps the learning curve gradual, but long. The only knocks on this top-notch driving game are the ubiquitous product placements (a Cingular messaging system?), high system requirements, and large download size. Considering the depth and quality of Need for Speed Underground 2, though, most gamers can forgive those details.
