Players can even team up cooperatively and fight on the same team, just like in last year’s Mortal Kombat. This means up to four players can take part in a fight. However, when one fighter on a team is knocked out, that team loses the round–regardless of how much health the remaining fighter has. Therefore, you must treat your two fighters as one unit. There are numerous ways to switch between your fighters, and mastering good synergy between them is the key to building devastating combos and winning matches.
The game includes many of the fighting mechanics seen in Super Street Fighter IV, with several new additions. It has a six button layout, with three punches and three kicks, and a three section energy meter with numerous functions. This meter is earned quickly and spent quickly on devastating super arts, EX special moves, and more. But one of its most important functions is cross canceling. For one block of meter you can tag in your partner mid-combo to continue the assault. At first this “two as one” style can be difficult to put into practice. It’s much easier to fight with one character until his or her health gets low, switch characters, and repeat. However, in doing so, you lose a lot of what makes this game unique, as well as sacrifice an edge in combat.

It delivered great tactical combat to rival most any other RPG available of the time, and it captured the style and spirit of classic silver-age comic books remarkably well. A surprisingly endearing cast of characters and an altogether excellent story rounded out a memorable, satisfying game. And now, at long last, Freedom Force has a follow up in the amazingly titled Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich. The new game is a direct continuation of its predecessor and really isn’t much different in terms of the presentation or the nuts and bolts of the action. So it serves as a testament to the quality of the original that the new Freedom Force, despite being so similar to a three year old game, is just about as fresh and as fun as the first. A great story and a wonderful cast of characters are once again the highlights of this game, which anyone with an appreciation for comic books would probably love.
Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich is absolutely worth playing if only for the story. Fortunately, the action itself is plenty entertaining, too, and there’s lots of it. And while the game’s technical aspects haven’t been radically revised since the original, they’ve aged almost as gracefully as the comic books that inspired it. This is all great news for Freedom Force fans, whose ranks probably consist of the vast majority of people who played that game. Yet, possibly the best news of all is that the satisfying conclusion of this second Freedom Force installment suggests that there will still be more where this came from.

The battle between Heihachi and Jin began. Filled with anger, his black wings spread, Jin defeated Heihachi. Just as Heihachi thought he was doomed, Jin regained control of himself.

“You have my mother, Jun Kazama, to thank for your life.” Jin said as he took flight.

The sounds of battle gave way to silence as Heihachi lay spread out on the ground. The silence was soon interrupted by approaching aircraft.
The roar of the aircraft increased and the sound of something being ejected was heard. A group of Jacks crashed through the ceiling. At first, Heihachi suspected that Kazuya was responsible for the intrusion but realized that Kazuya was just as bewildered by the sudden attack.

“Why are you here?” yells Heihachi as the wave of Jacks approaches. Heihachi and Kazuya battle waves of Jacks but reinforcements appear as fast as the Jacks are destroyed.

Heihachi starts to lose his breath. Kazuya betrays Heihachi, throwing him into the middle of the army of Jacks, and uses the opportunity to escape from Honmaru. Shortly after, Honmaru is devastated by a huge explosion.

Close by, the battle is watched by a man dressed in black. He raises his hand to his ear and speaks into his radio.

“Heihachi Mishima is dead…”

At that moment, a Jack attacks from behind but it cut in half instantly as the man disappears.

Honmaru is completely destroyed, a raging inferno in it’s place. A pile of debris was blown apart as something emerged from the earth, unseen.

The next day, news of Heihachi Mishima’s death spread rapidly across the globe. Most people believed that Heihachi’s death would bring about the end of the Mishima Zaibatsu, but behind the scenes someone else had taken control, and business went on as usual.

A month later, it was announced that the Mishima Zaibatsu will hold the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5.

Melty Blood Act Cadenza was the first arcade port of the series and was published by Ecole Software. The visual novel was removed, but the Arcade Mode dialogue featured in Re ACT returns. It completely revamped Aoko Aozaki’s movelist for use as a playable character, and introduced Kouma Kishima into the series, a man who was deeply involved in Shiki Tohno’s past. It also introduced the Shielding mechanic (separate from EX-Shielding), as well as included various changes to the properties of characters. This version (as well as the later released Ver. A) can be identified by the Atlasia crest, and the phrase “Through the Looking Glass, Black Light transparently”, both present in the logo.
Melty Blood Act Cadenza, released for the PlayStation 2 and PC, was unique as a port in that it included an option to revert to Version A mechanics, yet introduced significant changes that were later included in ver.B, including an early version of Neco Arc Chaos as a hidden character. It is sometimes known as Ver. A2.
Melty Blood Act Cadenza Ver. B is an arcade port of the PS2 game with various changes and upgrades, the most notable of which is the inclusion of White Len as a playable character, with a significantly weakened moveset.
